After much debate over the status of bees in Australia, the Proc Green Team at the University of Sydney decided to dive a little deeper into the world of bees. The team organised for Dr Kit Prendergast, a native bee scientist, to present a webinar to the team’s department. Dr Kit has a PhD in the conservation of native pollinators and so was able to share her knowledge with the University of Sydney procurement team. Proc Green Team members said that, “people left understanding the breadth of the Australian bee ecosystem and how to support and house them on their property.” Approximately 120 individuals participated in the webinar, showing a significant impact from the Green Impact program. Considering the importance of native bees to Australia’s ecosystem, this type of initiative solidifies the impact of the Green Impact program, where small actions make a big difference.
