We received so many incredible entries for our first challenge of the 2025 Green Impact Cup that we’ve decided to award both a Judges’ Choice and a People’s Choice award!
Now it’s your turn to get involved — explore the shortlisted images and cast your vote for your favourite.
When voting, keep an eye out for strong alignment with the theme of biodiversity, along with image composition and creativity.
- Voting closes at 6pm AEST on 21 May, so don’t miss your chance to have your say!
- Winners will be announced on World Biodiversity Day, 22 May.

Entry 1 - Long-fin eel
In the foreground, long-fin eel (which is an ‘at risk’ species in NZ) and are surviving in this creek despite the anthropologic activities surrounding its environment. Photo taken in Whitby, Porirua, New Zealand

Entry 2 - Mushroom
This photo, taken in Hampton State Forest, features an Amanita muscaria mushroom, a species with notable biodiversity significance. It forms mycorrhizal associations with trees, facilitating nutrient exchange and supporting soil health.

Entry 3 - Plant life on rock
This image, taken on-campus, shows a variety of plant life (moss, lichen & small plants) thriving together and creating their own ‘wee’ ecosystem.

Entry 4 - Billy Buttons
This image was taken close to Australia’s Great Ocean Road. It depicts a native Billy Button (Pycnosorus globosus), a pollinators favourite.

Entry 5 - Milford Sound
Milford Sound in NZ is an eco-tourism destination. Well-managed ecotourism can provide opportunities for people to experience and appreciate diverse habitats, animals, plants, and raise awareness of both the intrinsic and economic value of biodiversity and diverse ecosystems.

Entry 6 - Eucalypt
This incredible mature eucalypt was snapped by one of our team members this weekend at Wattle Grove. This beautiful old tree was supporting bracket fungi and mosses, as well as providing lots of habitat for birds and insects.

Entry 7 - Point Addis Marine Park
Point Addis Marine National Park is Victoria’s third largest Marine Park, located between Torquay and Point Addis. The marine habitat and temperate reefs serve as a haven for algae, invertebrates, fish, sea birds and mammals.
This unique inter-program competition is the opportunity for Australasian Green Impact teams to showcase their commitment to sustainability while competing for fantastic prizes!
To participate, ensure you (if participating in an individual program) or your team—comprising two or more people—is registered to an Australasian Green Impact toolkit. If your team is already registered, you’re all set—no additional sign-ups needed.
The Cup will run as three separate events in May (now complete), June and August. This means you have more chances to win in 2025!
Now is the time to show your dedication, creativity, and teamwork for a chance to win big and be recognised for your sustainability efforts. Let the competition begin!
